LEARN UPLAND BIRD HUNTING FROM THE EXPERTS!

The Hunt of a lifetime awaits you! You, along with other young hunters, will take part in a pheasant hunt at Great Guns. You will learn about upland bird hunting, see hunting dogs in action, and practice your wing shooting skills at a clay target range, then hunt upland birds with a coach and a skilled pointing dog.

WHO: Youth 10 to 16 years old.

WHEN: Saturday, October 18, 2008 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

WHERE: Great Guns Sporting, 16126 County Road 96, Nunn, Colorado (map)

WE WILL PROVIDE: Refreshments, 12 & 20 gauge shotgun shells, safety glasses, ear protection, and “HUNTER ORANGE” hat & vest. Also, a shotgun if needed (mark on registration form).

YOU BRING: Youth small game license (required), Hunter Education Card (required), water and a camera.

YOU SHOULD WEAR: appropriate clothing, e.g. warm clothes, gloves, boots.

COST: $5.00 for lunch.

Northern Colorado Chapter sponsors a "Youth Mentor Hunt". See below for previous Youth Hunt pictures and videos.

The day begins with a range and hunting safety lesson and the opportunity to bust some clays on a range. We then move to the fields for the hunts.

While PF volunteers plant pheasants, each youth hunter and his or her parent is paired off with a PF Mentor with a trained pointing dog. The hunts are successful and most participants leave with big grins and a few birds for their first hunting experience.
 

10 Youth Hunts held 3/2008, 10/2007, 3/2007, 10/2006, 3/2006, 10/2005, 3/2005, 10/2004, 3/2004 and 10/2003 were all a great success! Thanks to all the youth, parents and volunteers that were able to participate. Special thanks to the Youth Hunt organizers, DOW and Great Guns Sporting (map).
